May 12, 2017 | 5:42 AM

Vernon’s Woman of the Year for 2017 is Sue Beaudry.

The honour from Vernon Women in Business was awarded at a gala last night.

The award recognizes community, family and professional contributions.

Beaudry is Director of Development for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation and gets involved in many fundraising campaigns.

” and it was the door that opened so much opportunity to me in this community. I think that my daughter would say it’s very difficult for me to say no.”

Beaudry also gives of her time with Kalamalka Caring Klowns, donning a clown outfit and wig to help lift the spirits and well being of community members in need.

She was chosen from among 8 finalists out of 12 nominees

” I’m very grateful to have been part of of an amazing group of women. The 12 women who were nominated this year were unbelievable.”

Sue Beaudry says she came to Vernon 10 years ago for specific reasons

” I came because Vernon has warmth. It has dedication. It has caring citizens who want to help each other make this a better place.”

Beaudry says she’s a strong believer in giving back to the community and supporting everyone in the community.

She plans to retire from the Hospital Foundation in the fall and calls the honour the cherry on the top of the cake.

She added, however, she still intends to be involved in the community.

As recipient of the award, Beaudry also receives a pearl necklace set donated by Sweet Smiles Society and a two-day stay at any Prestige Hotel & Resorts location.
