Big Winter Clean-Up Bill

Mar 27, 2017 | 6:02 AM

More snow than normal this past winter has led to higher costs for snow and ice control in the City of Vernon.

Public works manager James Rice says January through March were busy for plowing and sanding crews.

“Our annual budget for snow and ice is about $670,000. To date, we’ve used about 60 percent of that,” Rice tells Kiss FM.

Rice says just under $400,000 was spent on the service through the first three months of 2017.

“It’s a little more than we would like moving into this time of year, but having said that, if we end up having a mild November and December, we’re going to be fine,” adds Rice.
