Vernon’s Fire Chief Officially Given Title
He’s been acting fire chief for 21 months.
On Tuesday, the City of Vernon announced that David Lind would officially take on that same role at Vernon Fire Rescue Services.
During his 21 months on the job, Lind is said to have guided VFRS through a challenging period and brought forward an eight-year strategic plan for the department calling for new equipment to increase fire suppression and ensure firefighters are safe.
According to a release from the city’s chief administrative officer Will Pearce, Lind has made “a sound case for new investment in self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs), major equipment including a ladder truck and engine, and necessary equipment to ensure fire fighters are safe in their challenging roles; and by mobilizing available positions to increase fire suppression and fire prevention services by placing additional fire fighters in service.”
