Vernon Councillor Nahal Seeks 2nd Term

Aug 23, 2018 | 12:33 PM

In spite of health issues, Vernon city councillor Dalvir Nahal wants another term in office and has decided to run for re-election in the October 20th municipal elections.

Nahal has cancer but her condition is stable and she feels she has more to offer the community.

“You know, I’ve been sitting on the fence because of my health issues but, you know, I’ve come to realize you have to keep doing what you love doing until you can’t do it anymore. That’s my motto,” Nahal tells Beach Radio News.

“It hasn’t been easy. I’ve had days where I’m done. I’m not going to lie and say everything’s rosy. But I have so much support and love around me that I almost feel guilty sometimes, feeling down on myself.”

Nahal says her first year in office was “a huge learning curve” but she hopes that her persistence will inspire other young people to enter politics.

Recently, city council sparked controversy by voting to ban stolen shopping carts, used by the homeless, on city property.

While Nahal supported the decision, the councillor also went out and bought ten carts for the homeless.

Nahal organizes the big Bollywood Bang charity bash each year.
