Drug Overdoses Increase

The latest figures show Vernon has had 14 fatal drug overdoses this year.

That compares to 23 all of last year.

Kelowna has had 34 people die of overdoses in 2018, with 75 last year.

The BC Coroner’s Service says the number of deaths provincially in July was 134, a 25 percent increase from June, and the second highest amount this year after 162 in March.

Most of the victims were men between the ages of 30 and 59.
