Almost 60 Firefighters on N Okanagan Wildfires
Firefighters are bracing for increased wildfire behaviour as temperatures increase once again in the southern interior.
BC Wildfire Service spokesperson Kim Weir is watching the Monashee Complex fires in the North Okanagan.
“We did have a small holdover fire from Saturday’s storm which exhibited increased fire behaviour yesterday so we responded to that yesterday afternoon and evening with air support, helicopters bucketing water, and we’re continuing to monitor and assess the situation today,” Weir told Beach Radio News.
Weir says that fire is just to the northwest side of Sugar Lake, south of Sprokton Creek, but high up the mountainside and no structures are threatened.
