Shanda Hill On Her Bike, After 38k Swim

Aug 16, 2018 | 12:35 PM

She’s on her bike, after a 38-kilometre swim wrapped up this morning in Switzerland.

Vernon superathlete Shanda Hill is the only Canadian competing in this year’s Swiss Deca Ultramarathon.

A deca marathon is the equivalent of ten Iron Man competitions.

Hill’s mom, Arleigh, says Shanda is well after a grueling swim.

“I saw she posted the swim was cold and relentless,” Arleigh Hill told Beach Radio News, adding that her daughter was still feeling “pretty good.”

“She hasn’t said, like last year when they got of the pool they were quite nauseous, the athletes, after being parallel for so long.”

Once the 1800 kilometre bike race is wrapped up, Hill is expected to run 422 kilometres to the finish of the race.

Fifteen men and women are competing in this year’s Swiss deca.
