Taylor Ponders Run for Council

Taylor Ponders Run for Council

Jul 30, 2018 | 4:38 PM

Darrin Taylor says it’s something he’s thinking about.

“Yes, I was approached. It’s really amazing how these things get out. It’s something I’m thinking about. It’s a big decision for me and my family. We haven’t made any decisions yet,” Taylor tells Beach Radio News.

The chair of the Activate Safety Task Force says he’s been approached about running for Vernon council this fall — either for councillor or mayor.

“The idea of running for mayor is something that has has come up on the past month. That’s a significantly bigger decision. That’s a big responsibility, and something that’s going to impact my family and my business. So we’re talking about it,” says Taylor.

Taylor is an intervention professional and therapeutic counsellor who runs his own business.

“I’m happy doing what I’m doing. I’ve got a business that I enjoy, a career I find fulfilling, and I enjoy the volunteer work I do. The decision to do something different would be significant.”

Taylor chaired the Task Force that produced over 40 recommendations for city council, on dealing with the impact of the street entrenched population on businesses.

The official nomination period for municipal election candidates begins Sept. 4.

Elections around BC will be held Oct. 20.
