Vehicle Runs Into Parked Truck

Jul 24, 2018 | 12:15 PM

A Vernon driver is accused of being intoxicated after his vehicle ran into a parked semi trailer.

The crash occurred around 1 am this morning in the 1250 block of Middleton Way in Vernon.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the attending officer entered into an impaired investigation after the male driver displayed signs and symptoms of alcohol consumption. The male was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

The 27 year old driver provided two breath samples at the detachment, which police say were both almost twice the legal limit.

A passenger was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

“Both the driver and passenger of this incident are lucky to not have suffered any major injuries,” says Brett. “There’s no excuse to drink and drive. If you plan to drink, leave your car at home.”

The driver is facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in court September 27, 2018.
