The District of Lake Country is moving to get control of short-term vacation rentals in the community.
Council has given third reading to a bylaw amendment that would restrict the length of stays in such rental properties.
Mayor James Baker hopes that would avoid losing long-term rentals.
“If all of those turn into airb&b’s, short-term rentals, the impact is considerable on our rental properties. So the issue is trying to keep some as affordable housing.”
Once adopted, the bylaw would limit short-term rentals to no more than 30 consecutive days with no more than 4 sleeping units rented concurrently.
