Fridge Raiding Suspects Identified

Jul 19, 2018 | 9:39 AM

Police have identified two suspects in the theft of meat from a Vernon farm.

“During the course of an unrelated investigation, our officers were able to identify a 36 year old Vernon woman and a 44 year old man Vernon man and linked them to the thefts of meat,” says Cpl. Yannick Lescarbeau

Several counts of theft will be recommended against the two.

On June 20th, 2018, an alleged theft that took place at a farm on Redwing Road in Vernon was reported to police.

“Owners of the farm say a male entered the honour system fridge, located on the property, helped himself to a dozen eggs and allegedly left without putting payment into the jar. Approximately 3 days later, the same male returned and reportedly took over $100 worth of organic meat from the fridge,” says an RCMP release.

Police say the same man returned to the property several more  times and took various items from the fridge including meat and eggs, without paying for it.

“To a small local farm, thefts like this can be devastating and may jeopardize the way the farm continues to conduct business,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.
