Yum and Yummer

Dec 4, 2017 | 5:50 AM

I get to do a lot of fun stuff with my job, and last week I was tasked with trying a recipe from a new cookbook (so difficult) and writing about it.

Yum and Yummer is the first solo book by Greta Podleski, you may remember her from the Looneyspoons collection that she and her sister, Janet, created together. The cookbook offers healthy recipes that taste great, and are easy to make (trust me I’ve already made two and will be trying a third this week).

It was hard to choose just one recipe to make, but I settled on Indian Coconut Curry Chicken Thighs. I went off the written instructions in the book, but the great thing about Yum and Yummer is the video component that Greta has included through her website yumandyummer.com

One of my favourite things about this recipe, and the book to be honest (there is a reason this is part of Jen’s Favourite Thing’s) is how simple it is. I had a lot of the ingredients at home already, and what I didn’t have I picked up fresh at the grocery store and didn’t have to go to a specialty shop to get.

Probably the most difficult thing about the whole process was cutting onions, which my mother documented brilliantly.

I also have to give props to Greta for the photography, I spoke with the author last week and she informed me that she photographed the food for the cookbook, and in her bedroom funnily enough. Needless to say I was in awe, as my food turned out delicious, but the photos didn’t quite do the dish justice.

I’m happy to say that Yum and Yummer is officially on my list of favourite thing’s, and I hope you will give it a try. Listen later this week for the interview with Greta, and we give you a chance to win a signed copy of the book!
