Advance voting opens Wednesday for Kelowna municipal election

Kelowna residents will have their first opportunity to cast ballots in the 2026 municipal election on Wednesday, when advance voting gets underway.

Advance polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at multiple locations around the city, with additional opportunities to vote available through Oct. 17.

The first day of advance voting will be held at Parkinson Recreation Centre and MNP Place.

The City of Kelowna says advance voting will be offered at 16 sites throughout the voting period, giving residents several options for when and where they cast their ballots.

“It’s important that everyone who is eligible has the opportunity to vote,” said Michael Jud, the city’s chief election officer, in a news release.

Polls will generally be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., although voting at Okanagan College and UBC Okanagan on Oct. 14 will close at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • North Glenmore Elementary, 125 Snowsell St.
  • Rutland Elementary School, 620 Webster Rd.

Wednesday, Oct. 14

  • Parkinson Recreation Centre
  • Black Box Theatre, 1375 Water St.
  • Okanagan College, S Building Lower Lounge, 1000 KLO Rd. — open until 6 p.m.
  • UBC Okanagan, University Centre 200 Ballroom, 3272 University Way — open until 6 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 15

  • Parkinson Recreation Centre

Friday, Oct. 16

  • Parkinson Recreation Centre
  • MNP Place

General voting day is Saturday, Oct. 17, when 13 locations across Kelowna will be open.

Voters are required to bring identification. The city recommends bringing two pieces of ID, including at least one showing a signature and one showing the voter’s current address.

To vote, a person must be at least 18 years old on Oct. 17, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in B.C. for at least six months and be a resident of Kelowna.

Property ownership is not required to vote.

Kelowna voters will elect one mayor, eight city councillors and four school trustees.
