Vernon, BC:  Kason Kobelka made 26 saves and the Vernon Vipers scored twice on the powerplay to defeat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-1 on Saturday night.

The victory extended Vernon’s winning streak to four games. Kobelka, named the game’s first star, earned his second win of the season and his second against Salmon Arm.

Tommy Karmiris scored his team-leading third goal of the season, while Luca Pura added his second, both on the powerplay. Ben Trebicky and Oscar Bjork scored at even strength. Pura and Trebicky each contributed a goal and an assist.

Vernon also killed off both Silverbacks powerplays, maintaining its perfect penalty-killing record. The Vipers are the only BCHL team yet to allow a powerplay goal this season.

Alexis Beaulieu scored Salmon Arm’s lone goal in the third period, ending Kobelka’s shutout bid.

Silverbacks starter Noah Mavin stopped 23 of 27 shots before Mikkel Christensen took over for the final 22 minutes.

Salmon Arm’s next game is Friday night in Sherwood Park. Vernon returns to action Sunday afternoon against the Blackfalds Bulldogs at Kal Tire Place.
