“I personally advocated for the outdoor learning space that Kidston Elementary now enjoys. This was during Covid and some government funds were provided towards outdoor learning spaces but the provincial government did not provide enough funds for all elementary schools. As the Trustee for Coldstream at the time, I spoke in favour of Kidston receiving an outdoor learning space which was approved.

“Several years ago, Coldstream Elementary was overcrowded and school boundaries were re-drawn. The children at Mount Symons Place were originally scheduled to attend Kidston after the boundary change but the parents living in Mount Symons Place wanted their children to continue at Coldstream as they had siblings there. I advocated personally for them and I am pleased to say that the children on Mount Symons Place could continue going to Coldstream rather than Kidston.”

Lee added leading the school district was reliant on working in “co-governance” with the B.C. Ministry of Education and Childcare, which was a task he was willing to take on.

Votes for SD22 Trustees will be cast as part of the local general election Oct. 17.
