Terry Fox Run returns to the North Okanagan

Sep 18, 2026 | 3:16 PM

People will lace up their sneakers for the return of a local Terry Fox Run.

The run, which has not been held in the North Okanagan since 2019, will take place on the Okanagan Rail Trail Sunday morning.

Along with stretching their legs and exercising, participants can fundraise for, or donate to, the Terry Fox Foundation online here.

“Terry asked for $1 from every Canadian [for cancer research], and each year we have been striving for that goal,” Robyn Kelly, organizer of the local Terry Fox Run, said in a release.

“In 2025, 20 communities in British Columbia knocked the per capita ratio out of the park, going above and beyond Terry’s $1 per person challenge. British Columbia also had two communities in the top 20 in Canada.

“We need all of British Columbia to give to help us keep our position and go over the $1 per person mark in 2026. Help your neighbours by donating just a little more. One extra dollar will cover their portion; help those you can. Cancer knows no boundaries.”

Registration will be set up at the 0 km mark of the rail trail at 9 a.m. Sept. 20, and the run will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The run will mark 46 years since Terry Fox attempted to cross Canada in his Marathon of Hope.
