Kelowna voters have four candidate forums to choose from before election day

Two more council forums are scheduled for Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, also at Revelry. Both begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by candidate meet-and-greets from 8 to 9 p.m.

The candidates taking part in those two forums have not yet been publicly announced. Each session is expected to feature a separate group of selected council candidates, with up to 21 candidates appearing across the three evenings.

The mayoral candidates will get their turn Oct. 7. That forum runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, 421 Cawston Ave.

There are three declared mayoral candidates — Ron Cannan, Tom Dyas and Andrew Uitvlugt.

The events come as Kelowna voters prepare to choose one mayor and eight city councillors. The city has 37 people running for council and three candidates seeking the mayor’s office, according to the nomination list released after nominations closed Sept. 11.

General voting day is Saturday, Oct. 17, with advance voting scheduled for Oct. 7, 10 and 14 through 16.

The final candidate list is expected after the Sept. 18 withdrawal deadline.
