Tips for wildfire evacuees re-entering their homes

Aug 15, 2026 | 8:00 AM

Some Westside Road residents are back home after a phased re-entry was announced Friday morning for properties affected by the Quilpituk Creek wildfire south of Fintry along Westside Road.

Peachland residents who left their homes because of the Bald Range wildfire also return, with the evacuation order changing to an alert at 6 p.m. Friday.

Residents returning home should check their properties for damage and hazards, including wildfire smoke, ash, soot, debris and damaged trees.

People should use protective gear during cleanup, including work gloves, sturdy footwear, safety glasses and an N95 or equivalent mask, and safely clean and sanitize undamaged fridges and freezers.
