Downtown Parkade getting upgrades, will mostly remain open
Vernon’s major parking structure will be getting some upgrades.
Starting Monday, August 17, crews will be working to repair and maintain the Downtown Vernon Parkade on 31st Avenue.
The work will go weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and see the deteriorated concrete and stairwell repaired and waterproofed, so as to ensure the structure remains usable for residents, visitors and businesses in the years to come.
The work will be done in phases and, though there will be temporary area closures, the Parkade will remain open for use. People were advised the work activity would also cause dust and noise, and that motorists and pedestrians should be careful of equipment and workers in and around the building, and obey all traffic control measures.
