A week later, the Bald Range fire is still burning

BC Wildfire Service says the Bald Range wildfire has received just two millimetres of rain since July 1st and none since August 1st, leaving extremely dry fuels across the fire area.

The Okanagan is now at Drought Level 5, the highest possible rating, while the region’s Water Scarcity Index is rated high across all five Okanagan regions.

As of Thursday, the wildfire had grown to 19,149 hectares, an increase of 700 hectares from Wednesday’s mapping.

All evacuation orders and alerts remain in place as the fire continues to burn on multiple flanks.
