Known offender arrested in stolen car in Coldstream

A person known to police was taken into custody after being found in a stolen vehicle Tuesday.

Local Mounties were on patrol in Coldstream at around 3:30 p.m. when a person approached them and said their stolen vehicle was seen parked at a nearby gas station.

Officers arrived on the scene and when they approached the vehicle, the male driver put it in gear and tried to flee, but was boxed in. The man then got out of the vehicle and tried to physically resist arrest, but the officers and the victim were able to subdue him and he was arrested without further incident.

“We want to thank the person who stepped in to help our officer that day,” Superintendent Blake MacLeod, Officer in Charge of the Vernon Nort Okanagan RCMP, stated.
