Work ongoing to address water supply concerns: Vernon-Lumby MLA
The local MLA has urged people conserve water as work continues to find a solution to the water scarcity issue in the North Okanagan.
In a media release, Harwinder Sandhu said the water scarcity concern in the North Okanagan is raising concerns for the agricultural sector, but work is underway to try to alleviate those pressures on the industry.
“Though the RDNO (Regional District of North Okanagan) is the body responsible for regulating our water use, I want you to know that these challenges are not being faced alone,” Sandhu stated in her release.
“Ministries across government, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, have been working closely with local governments, producers, and community partners to address both the immediate water shortage concerns and identify long-term solutions.”
