Kelowna youth climate corps launches second season of work
Youth Climate Corps BC is launching its second Kelowna season in partnership with the City of Kelowna, expanding paid, youth-led climate action work across the community.
The program builds on its first local cohort, completed in 2025–26, which delivered more than 403 “climate action days” working with city departments and groups including the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project, Helen’s Acres Community Farm, Habitat for Humanity Okanagan ReStore and the Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society.
This year’s team will be led by co-leads Ria Kaeley and Augustus Lee, along with four climate action mobilizers working through the summer.
Projects will focus on ecological restoration, urban forestry, FireSmart and wildfire preparedness, water conservation, and community outreach tied to the City of Kelowna’s Climate Resilient Kelowna Strategy.
