Kelowna council to join regional leaders in Revelstoke

Apr 27, 2026 | 10:42 AM

Kelowna’s elected officials, along with those from across the Southern Interior, are gathering in Revelstoke this week for a major regional convention focused on local government priorities.

The Southern Interior Local Government Association (SILGA) convention runs from April 29 to May 2, bringing together delegates from 37 municipalities across the Thompson-Okanagan region.

The annual event includes debates on 32 resolutions covering issues such as housing, water rates, forestry policy, wildfire funding, and public safety. The resolutions are intended to shape advocacy going forward to the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention later this year.

While Kelowna councillors are attending the gathering, no regular council meeting is being held at city hall today. The convention also includes workshops, tours and presentations for delegates, along with appearances from several provincial ministers expected later in the week.
