Water Main Break Damage

HWY 97 repairs scheduled for Sunday

A portion of Highway 97 damaged by a water main break will be repaired over the weekend.

The City of Vernon will have crews out doing temporary road surface repairs between Coldstream Avenue and 25th Avenue Sunday, March 29.

A water main break on March 20 damaged the road. The underground repairs were completed on that date and the upcoming work will restore the road surface temporarily.

Permanent repairs to the highway will be done April 12, after local asphalt plants reopen and hot-mix asphalt becomes available.

Work to temporarily repair the road surface will begin at midnight and is projected to be done by 9 a.m.

Traffic will be reduced to a single, alternating lane during construction and detour and traffic control measures will be in place to guide motorists. Drivers were reminded to obey all posted signage and direction from traffic control personnel, slow down in work sites, and allow for extra travel time.
