Lakes Levels Show Steady Decline

The decline of the levels of Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes continues at a steady pace.

Both dropped 1.3 centimetres the past 24 hours.

But both still have a long way to go to get to full pool.

Kalamalka Lake is 44 centimetres above that point.

Okanagan Lake is 43 centimetres above full pool at 342.914 metres above sea level.

The Central Okanagan Regional District says when it gets to 342.60, most beaches in the region will reopen and most docks should be above water again.

The District says when the lake gets to the point of full pool, all beaches will reopen and normal boating activity will be allowed.

In the meantime, boaters are reminded to respect no and low wake boating areas to avoid wave action and shoreline erosion.
