Update: Fatal Farm Machine Crash

Update: RCMP news release on fatal farm accident

Only July 4, 2017 Armstrong RCMP responded to reports of an accident involving a farm combine on Gulch Road in Spallumcheen, BC.

Reportedly a farm vehicle left the road and plunged over an embankment, coming to rest on its roof. The driver, a 64-year-old male, was the only person involved in the crash, and he was declared deceased at the scene.

Emergency health services, the coroner, Worksafe BC and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist all attended the scene.

At this point evidence simply indicates that this was an unfortunate accident. The farm combine will be undergoing a mechanical inspection.


A farm machine went off a road in Spallumcheen, killing one person.

The BC Coroner’s Service is investigating the incident which took place Tuesday afternoon.

A man driving a swather — used to cut hay — went off Gulch Road and down an embankment.

The victim is believed to be in his 60’s and from Armstrong.

The machine ended up on its side on the hill, making for a difficult extrication for the Armstrong Spallumcheen fire department.
