Jul 4, 2017 | 11:14 AM

A Lower Mainland man died in a drowning on Shuswap Lake over the long weekend.

Salmon Arm RCMP were called to a campground on Sunday where a 37 year old Surrey man who was on vacation had gone missing while swimming in a designated swim area.

“Our local Salmon Arm Search and Rescue team was called into conduct a shore search as the Salmon Arm RCMP maintained a presence at the location overnight,” says Staff Sgt. Scott West.

On Monday, a RCMP Underwater Team recovered the man from the lake.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family during this tragic time,” adds West.

Police are not releasing the name of the campground, or what part of the lake the incident occurred.

Also over the long weekend, a 25 year old Kamloops man drowned in the South Thompson River Saturday after he fell into the water from a private dock.
