OKIB Remind Sandy Beach is Closed to Public

Just a reminder as mentioned yesterday before the fireworks display, the Okanagan Indian Band has issued a warning to residents and visitors alike about the condition of Sandy Beach on the north end of Okanagan Lake.
A check on the band’s Facebook page confirms the closure of the beach. Results of water samples taken from the beach, found traces of e coli deeming the water unsafe to swim in.
The release also points out there are dangerous pieces of debris that have drifted onto the shore, some of which have sharp nails protruding out of them causing a high risk for contaminated punctures or cuts.
