Impaired Drivers

Single crash leads to two license suspensions

Jan 28, 2026 | 10:36 AM

A single vehicle crash in Vernon Monday night led to two people losing their driving privileges.

At around 9:45 p.m., Jan. 26, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Meadowlark Road and Pleasant Valley Road.

Officers interacted with the driver at the scene and determined she was impaired by alcohol, which was confirmed after she failed a roadside breath test.

The woman was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The driver called another person to pick her up, and when that person arrived officers also suspected she was impaired.

A second screening test was given and the second driver failed, so she was issued the same penalty and had her license suspended and vehicle towed.

“This is a case of extremely poor judgment…times two,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.

“It might seem a bit comical at first, but it isn’t at all. Impaired driving can have serious and real consequences. Get it right the first time. Don’t drink and drive and plan for a safe, SOBER, ride home.”

No injuries were reported as a result of the initial crash.
