‘Make No Wake’ Weekend

Jun 29, 2017 | 4:24 PM

While boating is not banned on local lakes, boaters are asked to ‘Make No Wake’ over the Canada Day long weekend.

The City of Vernon says the waves could create further erosion and damage to shorelines.

“Boaters and personal watercraft users should avoid creating wakes that can cause further damage to the shoreline,” says a City release.

All boat and PWC operators are reminded to reduce their speed to 10 kilometres an hour within 30 metres of the shore, and to be aware that there is still a lot of debris in the lakes.

Okangan Lake is down 1.5 centimetres from Wednesday to 343.052 metres above sea level, still 57 c-m’s above full pool.

Kalamallka Lake is down 1.4 cm’s to 392.243 metres above sea level.
