Jun 28, 2017 | 10:48 AM

Firefighters have been able to get an upper hand on a wildfire that broke out yesterday in the South Okanagan.

The fire near Cawston grew to 160 hectares by last night.

But Justine Hunse with the BC Wildfire Service says overnight crews worked hard against it.

“Twenty firefighters worked on that fire overnight and the fire is now 70 per cent contained and today we have 26 firefighters on site.“

Meanwhile, Max Birkner with the Wildfire Service says they`ll be keeping a close eye on the weather.

Òur fire weather prediction for the Kamloops Fire Centre for today was around the high 20`s into the low 30`s and about 20 to 40 kilometre an hour winds, much like yesterday.“
