Vernon Mayor Welcomes Movie Industry

Jun 28, 2017 | 6:12 AM

Vernon’s Mayor says the movie industry is bringing big dollars into the city.

Akbal Mund visited a shoot at the Kal Lookout for ‘Distorted’ last week, saying there were about 50 people involved.

“Just the amount of people to do that, probably a three minute shoot, it’s amazing. So that adds to your economy. A lot of these people were staying in Vernon, renting homes in Vernon.”

Mund says a number of spots in Vernon will be seen in the film.

“That one day I think they did four separate shoots throughout the town. They were down at Triumph coffee shop and they’re also very accommodating.”

The movie starring John Cusack and Christina Ricci also used sites at the Vernon sewer plant and Mackie House.
