Okanagan Wildfires Well In Hand

The BC Wildfire is dealing with a small fire near Skaha lake .

Crews were called late last night to the fire about 10 kilometres south of Penticton.

Justine Hunse with the Wildfire Service says it’s only point 63 hectares in size.

“The fire is adjacent to Eastside Road. residences are within one kilometre of the fire, however are not threatened at this time.”

That fire is not expected to grow.

Meanwhile a small fire burning north of Garnet Lake near Peachland is under control

“The BC Wildfire Service continues to have three firefighters who are continuing with mop up activities and the status of that fire has changed for today. That fire is now under control.”

The Wildfire Service says the fire danger now in the region is generally high.

There are pockets of extreme near Lillooet, Kamloops and Clearwater.
