The basketball event in support of the Splatsin Monument Project was a success.

The Splatsin First Nation said its Play for Truth community basketball event raised $16,277.

The event saw local leaders and first responders meet on the court as Team Truth and Team Reconciliation for some basketball action, as well as for skills competitions and three point contests, all in support of the Splatsin Monument Project.

The First Nation hoped to raise $20,000 for the project through this event, though noted this event was about more than the money.

“This event showed what’s possible when our community and partners come together with a shared heart and purpose,” Tkwamipla7 (Councillor) Crystal Morris said.

“It wasn’t just about fundraising — it was about healing, honouring our ancestors, and creating space for truth, connection, and reconciliation. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who supported this night.”
