97 year old killed in pedestrian collision

Police are investigating a fatal collision in Kelowna Sunday.

Kelowna RCMP said a mobility scooter rider was struck by a charter bus on Benvoulin Road, near Rampone Road, at around 1:30 p.m. July 26.

The scooter rider was rushed to hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

“The victim was a 97-year-old male living in Kelowna at the time of the collision,” Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP’s Media Relations Officer, stated.

“We offer our condolences to the family.”

None of the bus occupants were injured in the collision.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called in to assist with examining and documenting the scene.

Criminality and impairment were not believed to have been factors in the fatal collision.

The investigating into the circumstances surrounding the crash remained open as of time of publication, and anyone with information relating to the case, including dashcam or security camera footage, was asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file #2026-47361.
