Kelowna council to review draft 2026 budget Thursday
Kelowna city council will review the draft 2026 budget on Thursday, with a final decision expected next week.
The $1.051-billion plan keeps the proposed tax increase below five per cent, while focusing spending on roads, parks and housing to support the city’s rapid growth.
Also, a one-per-cent levy worth about $10 million would go toward public safety.
City officials say the budget aims to maintain key services and move ahead on major projects without putting too much pressure on taxpayers. The plan also leans on other revenue sources, like user fees and reserves, to reduce the reliance on property taxes. More details on spending priorities will be presented as council works through the document.
