Vernon Council reviewing major planning documents Monday, OCP Public Hearing to follow
Vernon City Council will be considering three major planning initiatives Monday.
Local leaders will be presented with the revised Official Community Plan, Transportation Plan, and 2026 Infrastructure Program at the Committee of the Whole and regular council meetings on Nov. 24.
The Official Community Plan (OCP) is a long-term planning strategy aimed at managing the community’s growth, as Vernon is expected to see its population increase by roughly 20,000 people over the next two decades. The plan looks at the needs the community faces to meet that growth such as in housing, infrastructure, transportation and parks and public spaces.
The Transportation Plan includes strategies to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity across the city. It also outlines what investments should be considered in terms of roads, transit, cycling infrastructure, and pedestrian routes.
