Arson Suspect Ordered to Stand Trial

Update: June 21

William Munton has been ordered to stand trial on 19 counts of arson.

He will return to BC Supreme Court July 10 to fix a trial date.

He will also be tried on child pornography charges September 25.

June 19 story:

A preliminary hearing is underway in Vernon today for a man accused of setting several fires.

William Munton is charged with 19 counts of arson dating back to 2014.

He was arrested last year.

One of the fires was the blaze that destroyed the grand stand at Kin Race Track.

Other fires involved boats, fruit bins, wooden pallets, as well as a vehicle and a home under construction.
