Coldstream Granted Intervenor Status In Farm Complaint

Jun 16, 2017 | 7:37 AM

Coldstream has been granted intervenor status in a complaint by a Lavington resident against Coral Beach Farms.

Robert Learmonth is seeking support from the BC Farm Industry Review Board over what he says is excessive noise from the company`s Buchanan Road cherry orchard.

Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick says the District wanted to supply some information.

“It`s just numbers of complaints. It`s more or less just information. It would`t be a written report, just to say this is the number of complaints, times of day, those sorts of things.
Most of the complaints center around noise from helicopters and sprayers involved in early morning or late night work.

Garlick says while there have been a number of complaints over the past year, there have been none recently.

`I haven`t heard of any recently, but then again, I guess a lot of the activities that would be taking place on the farm haven`t yet. It`s usually when they`re picking with the helicopters later in the summer.“

No date has been set for a hearing on the complaint.
