Police Using New $48 Million Building

Jun 15, 2017 | 9:49 AM

The new RCMP detachment in Kelowna is now in full operation.

The 48-million dollar building at 1190 Richter Street is headquarters for 380 officers and support staff from Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country.

The official opening will be held June 27, starting at 11 am.

It replaces the former detachment on Doyle Avenue that dated back to the 1960’s.

Superintendent Brent Mundle says the new facility is of a significant benefit to the operational effectiveness of the detachment.

“We look forward to continue serving the community from one central location.”

Mundle says the facility features modern standards for functions such as evidence, identification, forensics, records, laboratory, and cell block.
