First Degree Murder Trial

North Okanagan murder trial to resume later this fall

Sep 22, 2025 | 10:19 AM

A man on trial for first degree murder returned to court following a month long pause.

The trial of Peter Visintainer has been charged in connection with the death of Wolf Ingo Beyer, whose body was found in the Six Mile Creek Area in May of 2022.

The trial started August 5, but the proceedings were halted on August 22 after a request to obtain a psychiatric report was granted. The intent of the report was to determine if the accused was not criminally responsible for any actions due to a mental disorder.

That adjournment was granted before the Crown had closed its case.

The parties returned to Vernon court Monday, Sept. 22, to reschedule the trial. The B.C. Prosecution Service told Vernon Matters that the Crown and defence will be back in court on Oct. 14 to schedule the resumption of the trial.

Visintainer pleaded not guilty at the start of the trial.
