The Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed an operation in the Rutland area, resulting in seven arrests and significant seizures.

Officers targeted areas along Dougall Road and Highway 33, seizing over 100 grams of drugs, including fentanyl, crystal meth, and cocaine.

The operation was carried out in the area of Highway 33 and Dougall Road on Monday.

In a press release issued Wednesday morning, Kelowna RCMP confirmed its Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed the successful operation

The operation targeted key locations along Highway 33 and Dougall Road, an area known for criminal activity. Officers managed to disrupt ongoing operations and gather valuable intelligence for future enforcement initiatives.

Among the items seized during the operation were over 100 grams of illicit drugs, including fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine, and psilocybin. Police also confiscated numerous weapons, including two pairs of brass knuckles and a taser, along with 19 cartons of illegal tobacco and over $1,000 in cash.

Sgt. Scott Powrie of the CRU praised the success of the operation.

“This project was a significant success, reflecting the dedication and coordination of the Crime Reduction Unit,” Powrie said. “We will continue to relentlessly target individuals involved in the drug trade, disrupting their operations and removing dangerous substances from our streets.”

The operation, which was part of a larger effort to combat organized crime in the community, has had a direct impact on safety in Rutland, according to Powrie.

“The success of this initiative lays a strong foundation for future, more in-depth projects aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks and improving community safety,” he added.
