Housing Starts Up In Region

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says housing starts in BC trended higher in May with gains in Kelowna, Abbotsford-Mission and other urban areas off-setting a slower pace in Vancouver and Victoria.
Low inventory in both the resale and new home market is fueling new construction with single-detached and multi-family starts leading the way.
Compared with May of last year, Kelowna had 446 starts this year to 219 in 2016.
Most of those were multiples.
Vernon reported 29 housing starts in May compared to 16 last year.
Twenty-two of those were single-detached homes.
