Mar 7, 2025 | 6:00 AM

A man charged with flight from police and other offences will be back in Vernon court in late March.

Dale Babiy was arrested in Vernon in December of 2024 after police received a report of a suspicious vehicle that turned out to be stolen.

Babiy was stopped by a spike strip after trying to evade police, then allegedly tried to flee on foot, but was captured.

He faces counts of flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Babiy appeared in Vernon court to consult counsel Thursday, March , and the B.C. Prosecution Service said he will be back in court for an arraignment hearing on March 20.

No pleas had been entered and Babiy remained in custody.

Babiy was also wanted on warrants for assault with a weapon and uttering threats. The trial involving that case was ongoing with closing submissions to be entered in Vernon court on March 24.
