Mar 3, 2025 | 10:12 AM

The City of Vernon will remain committed to upgrading infrastructure through the year.

The city stated it would invest $28.6-million into projects in 2025, ensuring long-term viability of key infrastructure and meeting citizen’s needs.

The city included 27 capital projects in the 2025 Budget and Five-Year Plan that would benefit from the investments. Those include the new roundabouts at Pleasant Valley Road and 39th Avenue and at Phoenix Drive and Silver Star Road; construction of a new airport taxiway apron; replacement of playground equipment; court resurfacing and several city parks; and the second phase of the naturalization of Vernon Creek at Polson Park. The list of projects planned for 2025, along with projected timelines, can be seen here.

“With Vernon’s continued growth and the need to replace city infrastructure, these improvements are crucial to meeting the needs of our residents today,” Mayor Victor Cumming, said.

“By investing in lifecycle replacements and upgrading existing infrastructure, we are ensuring reliability, creating a stronger, more connected community and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.”

The city stated construction of these projects would ramp up in the spring and summer, adding the public would be notified of planned projects ahead of the construction dates.
