Of the projects, four will done in the North and Central Okanagan.

• Vernon: Okanagan Indian Band Forestry LP, fibre supply utilization at Irish Creek
• Enderby: Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) 2007 LLP, fibre supply utilization
• Kelowna: Nityix Resources LP, wildfire fuel mitigation between West Kelowna and Peachland
• Summerland: District of Summerland, wildfire mitigation

These projects were part of 14 that would be located in the Thompson Okanagan region. The province did not provide funding totals for the specific projects but did state that a total of $6,544,059.61 would be provided to fund them.

“These projects are putting local businesses and people to work reducing wildfire risk and recovering fibre for local pulp mills, and pellet and energy plants,” said Jason Fisher, executive director of FESBC.

“FESBC received strong proposals from across the province and we are pleased to support this strong group of proponents in their forest-management activities.”
