Federal investments support outdoor and cultures spaces in the Okanagan, Interior
Several tourism experiences in the Southern Interior, including some in the Okanagan and Shuswap, are benefiting from a federal investment.
Through Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), the federal government is providing over $2-million through the Tourism Growth Program to 14 organizations that maintain outdoor recreation and cultural experiences in B.C.’s Southern Interior.
Among the investments are:
- $174,000 to expand air service at Kelowna International Airport and promote travel during the shoulder season
- $240,000 for the Niche Wine Company to transform its West Kelowna winery into a micro-resort
- $190,731 for the Shuswap Trail Alliance to improve trail networks for mountain biking and hiking
- $250,000 for CAPOW Guiding to improve infrastructure for backcountry hiking tours near Revelstoke
- $130,000 for ZipLine Peachland to improve its ziplines and climbing wall
- $42,000 to improve accessibility on the Nakusp Hot Springs Trail
