Lakeshore Drive Closed Due To High Water

Jun 2, 2017 | 2:40 PM

The rising levels of Okanagan Lake have led to Lakeshore Road in Vernon being temporarily closed to through traffic from Kin Park to the creek.

Crews from the Okanagan Indian Band are putting sand crates along the beach to protect the road as the water levels rise.

About eight homes at the nearby Holiday mobile home park are in danger of flooding.

The City says Lakeshore Road will reopen at 6 tonight and stay open through the weekend, but will close again at 8 am Monday possibly until June 10.

BC Transit bus routes 7 and 8 have been detoured along Tronson Road, so service will not be available on Lakeshore Road or Okanagan Landing Road near Marshall Field during the closures.
