NDP’s Sandhu leading in Vernon-Lumby while Conservative’s Armstrong projected to serve as Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream MLA

UPDATE: 11:30 p.m.

Harwinder Sandhu is holding a lead in the race to serve as the local MLA.

All 25 local ballot boxes have been reported, and the NDP candidate leads the Vernon-Lumby riding with 42.5 per cent of the vote.

All 24 ballot boxes in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream have been reported, and Conservative Tara Armstrong is projected to represent the riding after taking 54 per cent of the vote.

Out of district ballots are still being processed in the local ridings

Meanwhile, the NDP has a slight lead over the Conservatives in the race to form the next government.

ElectionsBC says over 98 per cent of ballot boxes have been reported.

UPDATE: 10:50 p.m.

All ballot boxes in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream have been reported, and Conservative Tara Armstrong will represent the riding.

She is forecasted to win the seat with 54 per cent of the vote.

One ballot box is still unreported in Vernon-Lumby, where NDP’s Harwinder Sandhu has 42 per cent fo the vote, just slightly ahead of Conservative Dennis Giesbrecht, who has 41 per cent.

Out of district ballots are also still being processed in the local ridings

Meanwhile the NDP has a slight lead over the Conservatives in the race to form the next government.

ElectionsBC says 96 per cent of all ballot boxes have been reported.

UPDATE: 9:35 p.m.

The NDP candidate has pulled ahead in the Vernon-Lumby race

Elections BC has Harwinder Sandhu leading a close race with 43 per cent of the vote, to Conservative Dennis Giesbrecht’s 40 per cent.

Conservative Tara Armstrong is forecasted to win the Kelwona-Lake Coutnry-Coldstream riding with 54 per cent of the votes.

One ballot box, along with out-of-district votes, still need to be compiled for the local ridings.

The NDP have retaken the lead from the Conservatives in the race to form the next government.

The Conservative Party of BC candidate is projected to win the new Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding.

With all but two of the ballot boxes from the riding reporting, Tara Armstrong has the lead with nearly 54 per cent of the vote.

The Vernon-Lumby riding race is a close one, with Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP holding a slight lead over Conservative Dennis Giesbracht.

Two ballot boxes in Vernon still need to report, as do out of district votes for both local ridings

The NDP has slight lead over the Conservatives in the race to form the next government with 86 per cent of ballot boxes reporting.

— UPDATE 8:40 p.m. —

The Conservative Party of BC candidate is projected to win the new Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding.

With all but two of the ballot boxes from the riding reporting, Tara Armstrong has the lead with more than 53 per cent of the vote.

The Vernon-Lumby riding is too close to call between NDP’s Harwinder Sandhu and Dennis Giesbrecht of the Conservatives, with all but two ballot boxes reporting.

Out-of-district ballots are still being counted.

ElectionsBC is also forecasting that the NDP will form the next government. The New Democrats have the lead with 78 per cent of ballot boxes reporting.

— 8:20 p.m. Oct. 19 —

The preliminary figures are rolling in and it appears there will be a change to the local MLA representation.

With eight of the 25 ballot boxes reported, Dennis Giesbrecht of the Conservative Party of BC has the lead in the Vernon-Lumby Riding.

Conservative Tara Armstrong is also leading in the Kelowna-Lake Country Coldstream riding, with 15 of the 24 ballot boxes counted.

The race is too close to call between the Conservatives and the NDP to declare who will form the next government at this time.

The figures Saturday, Oct. 19, are preliminary. ElectionsBC will finalize the vote count on Oct. 26.
